People get really into that whole New Years' Resolutions "new year, new me" kind of thing. And although I've never really been someone to give myself elaborate (or at the very least, formal) goals about things, I love the idea of it. I love the idea of that whole "start fresh" mentality. In early January of 2013, I would end a lot of sentences with "but what the heck, it's 2013!" In the social media world, I suppose this is called "rebranding." And so, I am rebranding. Junior year of high school I took a break from learning AutoCAD to take some web design classes. I learned HTML and CSS, and became somewhat familiar with JavaScript. This summer, it is my intention to become intimately familiar with JavaScript, and refresh my memory on the other two, and then finally create my own website... or revamp this one. But I got sick of waiting for this summer. New year, new me, right? Love Letters and Blog Posts is no more. I would like to formally welcome you all to The Glitter Bonfire. It took a little while to come up with the perfect name. LLBP had a rhythmic acronym, but its full title was simply too long. But for my NYE pic this (last? most recent) year, I pulled out of thin air the little phrase, "be glittery and fiery and good." I'm not sure where it came from, but I like it. I really, really, like it. And so I played with it! I thought of "glittery and fiery and good" or simply "glittery and good" as potential titles, but those were, once again, too wordy. I thought about blogs and sites and brands I like that already exist: Refinery29, Klossy, HelloGiggles, BuzzFeed. And although I cannot imagine ever being quite on their caliber, I know that to be truly successful, to truly have a social media "brand," I need to look at what makes them successful. I Googled each idea I had to make sure it wasn't already taken. I checked Twitter, Facebook, Instagram. And then, I had it. I took each adjective (glittery, fiery, good) and pushed them into one thing: a glittery bonfire. Hence, The Glitter Bonfire. Welcome.
