Dear Audrey Hepburn,
I have challenged myself to write a letter on this blog every Monday. You are the lucky recipient of the first one, and I think it's fitting; though not my namesake, I look up to you, and try to fulfill the expectations given to me by my parents when they wrote this name on my birth certificate, and when they blessed me and named me in the eyes of God. I have no doubt that you are aware that many people look up to you as the epitome of elegance, style, sophistication, and grace. They respect you also as a great humanitarian, and I am none of those things. I try to be. Really. Today I took an online quiz (online... it's a marvelous place) that told me which classic Hollywood actress I'm most like. I was not most like you, but most like Grace Kelly, another woman known for her elegance and sophistication. I was flattered that the good people of Refinery29 would compare me to something so great. When I took the quiz again with the intention of choosing all the right answers for you, I was surprised - their description for you was "charming, quick-witted, and girly," which is true, you are. But now, we think of you more as elegant and Parisian. Which description do you prefer? I won't be offended either way, just interested. Chaleureusement, Audrey ★
